The Department of Economics is being run in DBS College since its establishment in 1959. At present, Professor Prem Swaroop Tripathi is working as head of department . Professor Rajesh Nigam, Professor Manju Awasthi, Dr. Archana Shukla, Dr. Ajay Kumar verma, Santosh Yadav, Dr. Ranjit Yadav are working in the department.

At present, due to the policy changes in higher education (National Education Policy), the activities of the colleges are changing. The course material, the format of the question paper, the format of the examination have changed. At present, the department is continuously working to upgrade the education and encourage the students. Mission is organizing workshop, seminar, educational tour, research project, poster competition getting very good results.

Research-

Research are being carried out by the department. At present 06 research scholars are working in the department.

Special achievement-

Professor Manju Awasthi of the department presented a paper in the International Program in Spain on 21/09/2022 which has been published. Schemes and Projects The department has completed 04 small projects approved by the University Grants Commission.

History of the Department

The Department of Economics is being run in DBS College since its establishment in 1959. Initially B.A., B.Sc classes were conducted. The first head of the department at that time was Dr. Vinod Mohan Saxena. After some time, Dr. Jitendra Sahay joined the department as a new member. In 1964, postgraduate classes were started and Dr. R.S.S. Yadav and Professor Satyendra ji Srivastava took charge as new members. At present, Professor Prem Swaroop Tripathi is working as head of department.
