‘एक थाली एक थैला मिशन’ A green initiative to keep polythene free environment in KUMBH MELA

On 19th November 2024, the DBS Eco Club launched the **”एक थाली एक थैला मिशन”**, an ambitious eco-friendly campaign to promote a polythene-free environment during the **Kumbh Mela**. This green initiative, aimed at fostering sustainability, was conducted under the expert supervision of Dr. Archna Saxena (Eco Club Convenor), Prof. K.K. Srivastava. Prof. C.M. Saxena, Dr. Rajesh Shukla and Prof. Vikas Mishra prof Sapna Shukla The mission sought to encourage the use of reusable bags (**thaela**) and plates (**thali**) to significantly reduce the dependency on single-use plastics and polythene. The active participation of dedicated Eco Club members, including Dr. Anita Nigam ,Dr. Jyoti Mishra,Dr. Priyanka Sonwani,Dr. Seema Tripathi,Dr. Rajneesh Kumar and Dr. Deepak Kumar,ensured the successful implementation of the initiative. With Kumbh Mela drawing millions of devotees, the team recognized the urgent need to mitigate environmental degradation caused by plastic waste. Through awareness campaigns, workshops, and on-ground activities, the club educated the public on sustainable practices and distributed reusable items. The “Ek Thali Ek Thaela” mission is a significant step toward making the **Green Kumbh** a reality. By fostering community participation and raising awareness, this initiative reflects DBS Eco Club’s commitment to a cleaner and greener future, aligning with global sustainability goals.
